Commercial Lead – Travel Category
The Commercial Lead will be responsible for the leadership and management of a busy and highly motivated team, with a sharp focus on developing and delivering the category strategy for allocated sub-category areas, and delivering strong commercial solutions.
There will be a strong emphasis on building and maintaining strategic relationships with CCS colleagues, agencies, customers, suppliers and senior stakeholders to deliver the category strategy and achieve the best outcomes for the public sector and the public purse.

The travel category is high profile and is going through a considerable period of positive transformation and this role represents a truly unique opportunity to be at the beginning of a new phase within the central government.
CCS are looking for a proactive industry expert with a strong reputation for innovation, delivery and commercial excellence, to be part of a category team that will shape industries and drive outstanding 3rd party commercial agreements. The category currently manages agreements in excess of c£750m per annum, with scope to grow to in excess of £1bn.
The successful candidate should have the market expertise and knowledge to spot trends and change markets accordingly, enabling our customers to make informed decisions around their business and work in a way which suits their current and future business needs.
This well-established category offers an exciting opportunity for someone to build CCS capability and to expand the scope of the category with the customer.
The category scope includes the following:
*Booking solutions – accessing the leading suppliers of travel management services across the corporate travel market with a focus on digital transformation
*Air – developing and delivering an effective air strategic programme for the Public Sector and / or niche suppliers that can provide Air Booking Services plus Charter Solutions
*Rail – developing relationships with key stakeholders to drive commercial benefits and / or niche suppliers that can provide Rail Booking Services
*Accommodation – ensuring a deep understanding of the market is applied to our strategy and / or niche suppliers that can provide Accommodation Booking Services
*Ground transport – have a deep knowledge of the full ground transport market including the capability to be able to mature a new niche framework area for CCS turning it into a market leading commercial solution. An example of a current niche framework would be Coaches with Driver
*Crisis Management – ensuring that the suppliers within the travel frameworks (and travel team) can support our customers requirements in the event of emergencies e.g Covid-19
